PUPPY LOVE is the first book in the series. It is also the first novel I wrote for children. My own adorable and Utterly Scrumplumptious Pooch, the wonderful Kenna provided the inspiration! She is a black Labrador of Extreme Gorgeousness and is sitting at my feet as I write this (which is why I'm being so nice about her, just in case she understands...)
Kenna was only seven weeks old when she came to live with us and immediately turned our lives inside out and upside down. She chewed shoes, ate dish cloths, rolled in Unspeakable Things, and demanded cuddles and someone to play with at every opportunity. She was also frightened of lots of things, such as the car and the Hoover! I had to get a dog-training book to teach me how to get Kenna used to the things she was scared of. While I was reading it I came up with the idea for PUPPY LOVE: Honey, the dog in my story, is frightened of the vet because he has as beard. She is so upset whenever she sees him that she goes bonkers doolally crazy in a very Over The Top kind of way.
In the end, Summer has to resort to a pretty bonkers way of getting Honey to Settle Down . . .
